Rev. Jonier Orozco
Jonier Orozco is a native of Medellin, Colombia. From the time he was very young he has felt a call to serve God with his life. His great desire to know God and to study God’s word led him to attend seminary and to be ordained as a minister with his former denomination, the Interamerican Church in Columbia. In 2011, his ordination vows were renewed as (Minister in Word and Sacrament) teaching Elder by the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. (PCUSA) following his ordination.
In 2006, Jonier and his wife, Keren Diaz, felt the call of God to serve the church in the
United States. Since arriving here, Jonier has been actively serving Hispanic Presbyterian Churches in the Atlanta area. Jonier has also served as president of the Hispanic Caucus of the Southeast United States, has been the liaison for the Hispanic groups with the Synod of the South Atlantic, and has served as Vice Moderator of the National Hispanic Caucus in the PCUSA.
While his ordination was being validated with PCUSA, from 2006 - 2008 Jonier worked as Pastor for the Hispanic Ministry at Newnan Presbyterian Church, where he focused on home visitations, family groups, youth and marriage counseling, and local missionary work. In 2008, he became the Associate Pastor at College Park Presbyterian Church, and was actively involved in the revisioning of that church. In 2011, he became the installed solo Pastor at College Park Presbyterian Church.
Since February 2019, Jonier has served as Pastor at Austell Presbyterian Church in the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. He is involved in all areas of ministry, including working with the youth, leading worship, preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and just about anything else that needs to be done.
In his spare time Jonier enjoys spending time with his wife and their sons, John
Andrew, James, and Jonathan. He also enjoys watching comedy films and having a good laugh with friends and family!
