Backpack Blessings

Millions of low-income children in the United States rely on food support from the National School Lunch Program.
In our own community:
- Over 20,000 children in Cobb County are food insecure, with 2,000 of those students considered homeless.
- Nearly 42% of CCSD students qualify for free or reduced price meals.
But school-provided meals only provide food support for these children when school is in session. What do these children do when school isn’t in session – on the weekends, over breaks, or in the summer?
Each week, our small church donates items for, packs, and distributes over 100 weekend food bags to support food-insecure children at a local Cobb County elementary school.
How can you help?
Donations of the following nonperishable, not-expired food items can be left on the Backpack Blessings table outside the office in the Conyers Building:
- Lance snack crackers
- Granola bars
- Fruit cups
- Fruit snacks
- Individual serving oatmeal packets
- Pop Tarts
- Ready to heat & eat Macaroni & Cheese
- Ready to heat & eat Spaghetti & Meatballs
Thank you for your support of this important mission!
